AOI Programmer/Shift Support Technician - Shift Base Role

We are looking for an additional AOI programmer/Shift Support Technician to join the engineering team.  The key purpose of this role is to develop AOI applications and provide test support to the production teams as well as be responsible for the development and creation of physical artifacts, production processes and technology. You will be responsible for all technical aspects of production on SMT (Printer, SPI, Placement and Transport systems), AOI, Wave soldering, Selective soldering, cleaning and coating production lines. The Technician is the technical/process support during shifts for all manufacturing processes and will report to the SMT Technical Manager

 Key responsibilities include:-

  •  Development of AOI applications 
  • Drive In-Line AOI activities 

  • Conduct machine repairs with the Maintenance Technician 

  • First off on SMT, Bench Assembly and Selective soldering lines

  • Production problem solving during production on all SMTand AOI lines

  • Manage services when there is a problem with equipment

  • Equipment programming – AOI, SMT and printing

  • Support all NPI activities on the SMT lines

  • Profiling as necessary

  • Technical support and responsibility for the Wave soldering, Selective Soldering, Cleaning and Conformal Coating processes

  • ASM line Programming and full responsibility for the processes

  • Maintain Machine fault and Process fault log

  • Engineering feedback logs

  • Ensure all programs, setups, profiles and tooling used in manufacturing processes are up to date

  • Deal with manufacturing issues during production (component enquires, issues with documentation, first off fails, problems with equipment etc)

  • Technical support during shifts and escalation point

  • Provide agreed and appropriate work instructions, equipment processes, procedures and training enabling manufacturing staff to build quality product at the first attempt

  • Identify and resolve product and process related issues and barriers to success plus propose corrective actions to prevent recurrence of issues

  • Support production and customers in providing a quality product by applying current best practice in manufacturing techniques and ensuring awareness as to the suitability of the product for manufacturing

  • Continual process evaluation and recommend/implement improvements 

  • Effective Root Cause Analysis

The successful candidate will have:- 

  • BTEC in Electronics or equivalent

  • 3+ years’ experience working in electronics manufacturing

  • AOI  and SMT experience

  • Self starting, high energy individual 

  • Good organisational and analytical skills 

  • Experience of Excel and Microsoft Access is essential 

  • Excellent problem solving abilities

  • Good influencing and communication skills

  • Attention to detail, Finisher/Completer

  • Tenacity and the desire to succeed

  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively 

The hours of work are 6.00 am – 2.00 pm early shift and 2.00 pm – 10.00 pm late shift.  There is the occasional requirement to work a night shift
